My New Job

So I was searching on the lovely old Craigslist, and found a listing that asked for folks interested in jobs at a new publishing company. They just published their first novel, and they needed people on their marketing team, etc.

I thought this sounded like a good opportunity, so I emailed the guy.

I started Yesterday.

$10 an hour, with promising promotions in the near future.

I'll tell more of what I do later, now I am at my other job, about to sleep, becaue I didn't go to sleep until 5 this morning, and woke up at 8.

Oh yes, you got that right, I'm dog tired.

and I don't get off until 10.

Until them, check out the company I work for...

Good News

http://www.reelchicago.com/story.cfm?Section=TopStory&StoryID=537

"The on-again, off-again Central City X Studios is back on again with a vengeance. The Community Development Commission gave a stamp of approval Tuesday to a plan to build a $43.7 million, state-of-the-art film and TV studio complex on the West Side.
The 11-acre former illegal mountain of debris at 4300-58 W. Roosevelt Road figured prominently in the city’s Silver Shovel scandal of the mid-’90s. "Changing the dump site to a movie studio is a pretty incredible accomplishment, no matter how many years it takes," said Peter Scales, Dept. of Planning and Development spokesman.
It will consist of five sound stages, three 18,000-sq. ft., and two 28,800-sq. ft., plus a three-story production office building, a 21,660-sq. ft. mezzanine for production support, and a 450-car parking lot.
Construction will commence six months after final City Council approval. It should take 18 months until the facility is completed.
Raleigh Enterprises owns Raleigh Studios, the oldest, continuously operating studio in the U.S., with facilities in Hollywood and Manhattan Beach. It recently acquired Hollywood Rentals, specialists in lighting and grip, generators and production vehicle rentals, which is currently servicing the features "Roll, Bounce" and "Batman" while they film in Chicago.
Commercial production has been a mainstay of Raleigh Studios and Rosenthal expects studio rentals will come from Chicago ad agencies as well as from production of features and TV shows and series"

Super Size This

I think I am getting fat.

I know why. I have been eating McDonald's like none other. It's quite crazy. Every since seeing Super Size Me, I've been eating McDonald's at least twice a week. Probably more than that. It's scary. I know that's it's horrible for me, and by eating more than once a week I am a "heavy user". I used to HATE it. but it's so good. I can't get away from it.

And I joined a gym. To lose weight and gain muscle. It doesn't appear to be working, and I go at least three times a week.

Something is wrong with me.

I love my book. Vanity Fair. Everyone should read it.

That's about it for that.

But I only have 7% body fat. Take that McDonalds.

Happy (belated) Birthday!

Happy Birthday to me!

I really didn't do much for my birthday, other than take the train back from St. Louis, and sleep until 8 PM. I then went to Hooters. Rohan wanted chicken wings. I didn't, but I obliged. Tonya met us there, and we then went back to my house to watch Briget Jones' Diary. We all know I love that movie.

Other than that..

Let's talk about St. Louis.

I had the most amazing time. I needed that mini-vacation. It made me feel oh so good.

So I left Thursday. Scott and Eddie came too, and we arrived in Quincy, IL, at about 10:30 PM. Grant met us at the train, and was with his friend John. John is an interesting fellow. Quite interesting. It's weird that my friends think I'm the one who always initiates things, when it's not all the time me, especially recently. So Thursday night, we hung out in Hannibal (Grant's hometown), sat on the porch, looked at the stars, just had a jolly good time.

Friday morning, we packed up, and began the trek to St. Louis. It's only an hour away, so it's not like it's a big deal. Anyways, we arrived, and got ready, showered, did the whole prettying up thing, and went out on the town. We went to the many different parts of STL, one in particular, being U-City. It was a nice little area, filled with little shops and things of a little college town inside a city. We saw Ernie (for details about Ernie, please read posts from March/April of last year, basically, bad news Bears.) who wasn't the Ernie whom I still had pictured in my mind. Sad times for him, because he wasn't getting laid that weekend (well at least not by me). We got Smoothies, and 'twas a jolly good time spent shopping. We were THIS close to getting tattoos. All four of us. So so so close. Grant backed out at the last minute. We then went to dinner, at a really good place called Culpeppers, in the Central West End. I really like that part of the city, it's old fashioned, and upbeat at the same time. It's also keen for "us". I met David, Grant's soon to be boyfriend, Deo Valente. I also met Travis, Grant's best friend down in STL. Travis is a really good guy. He's nice, smart, he's got a great smile and a sense of humor to boot. Basically, he's hot, and I like him, but he's there, and I'm here, and he's got a boyfriend. All the good guys do. It's all good though. Friday night, we went to a party, and we realized that just because of the simple fact that we're from Chicago, we were instantly the coolest people there. It was very interesting. People were all over us about everything. Here's the funny thing. Everyone there dressed like I did my Freshman year of high school. It's crazy. The bigger city you're in (or in some cases the closer you are to the coast), the more trendy, classy, and instant popularity you have. All in all, the party was fun.

Friday late night was one of the most amazing times I have ever had. EVER.

I rolled.

Saturday, was Grant's day. We got up pretty late, went to the pool, laid out, chilled, and then we got ready. We were HOT. plain and simple. No one had anything on us that night. We were all scantlyclad in pink, for that was Grant's color for his birthday, and everyone in his entourage, wore pink. Man. talk about fun times for all. We went to dinner, and Grant got WASTED. Exactly what we wanted. I mean it was his 21st birthday, so he had to get wasted, but yes. It was the best. I loved every minute. The club was awesome, and I had a wonderful time.

Wowsers.

Sunday, we got up, and went to Hannibal for a bar-b-que hosted by Grant's aunt, and grandmother. It was some good eatin'. They even had a cake for me. It was really nice to be in the presence of the backwoods Missouri folk. Haha. No, they are some really cool people, and I had a wonderful time. Sunday night, we watched "Beautitian and the Beast". Never watch that move. Ever. It is not good. My friends like it though. Shows what kind of movie taste they have. Hardy har har. We then went to some friends of, Neil and Larry's to sleep, for they live about five minutes from the Qunicy IL train station. They were quite an interesting couple. 'twas fun times for all.

Monday (My birthday) I rode the train home, and slept. All day. Until about 8. That's a full circle!

Later Tator!

7300...

I have been alive for exactly 7300 days.

Interesting.

My birthday is in 5 days.

"The world is a looking glass, and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face. Frown on it, and it will in turn look sourly upon you; laugh at it and with it, and it is a jolly , kind companion; and so let all young (or old) persons take their choice."

~William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair

I'm reading Vanity Fair (hence the quote). It's a great book so far. I'm not far into it at all, but I am really enjoying it thus far. I can't wait for the movie this fall.

OH yes, for the fourth of July, I went to Scott's roof, watched the amazing array of fireworks all around the city, and pranced around in my underwear.

Wish you were there.

Hooray!

"CNN Breaking News:

Democratic candidate John Kerry chooses Sen. John Edwards as his running mate."

That's all that needs to be said.

This is a good day.
